President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali's electoral programme

TUNIS, Oct. 11, 2009 (TAP) - President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, candidate of the Constitutional Democratic Rally (RCD) for the presidential elections of October 25, 2009, presented, on Sunday, his electoral platform for the five-year period 2009-2014, a programme for which he has chosen the slogan " Together We meet Challenges."

This document includes a forward penned by President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali and a general introduction which reviews principles, tenets and choices underlying this programme in a variety of sectors.

The electoral programme of President Ben Ali includes the following 24 topics:

1- New steps on the path of democracy and consolidation of pluralism,

2- Continuous promotion of human rights and the values of solidarity,

3- A society of balance and cohesion among individuals and social categories,

4- A higher standard of living and a better quality of life,

5- Health, a basic right and an essential foundation for quality of life,

6- Employment, an absolute priority,

7- Tunisian women, a symbol of authenticity and modernity; the family, a pillar for social cohesion,

8- Building a better future for Tunisia's youth,

9- Tunisians abroad, always in the heart of the nation,

10- Restoring the normal level of development and achieving a faster pace of growth,

11- Towards an environment-friendly, energy-saving and innovative economy with high technological content,

12- Tunisia, a pole for banking services and a regional financial centre

13- An efficient financial policy and a fair taxation system,

14- An educational system that meets the challenges of the future,

15- Training: towards supporting employment policies and increasing work performance,

16- Higher education: to build the society of intelligence and knowledge,

17- Scientific and technological research, a support base for the new economy,

Creation of a numerical village in a region in the Governorate of Zaghouan

The pilot Project for the creation of a numerical village aims to connect the locality of El Fahs to the internet web by using the WIMAX technique and thus provide the sanitary, educational and cultural institutions with the necessary equipments for their connection to this web and so guarantee modern services to the different social categories. This Project will generalize the opportunities of numerical development to all Tunisian localities, reduce the numerical gap between the different regions and favour employment mainly for the university graduated, craftswomen, the helpless and the handicapped and this in application of the action plan and of Tunisia 's engagement in the World Summit of information held in November 2005.

For the realization of this Project, The Tunisian Association for Universal services in Telecommunication counts on the effective participation of Tunisian associations to mobilize the financial resources and to realize similar projects in the inner parts of the Country and this with the partnership of economic enterprises and concerned organisations
